RevitalizeMaui Diagnostic Testing

At RevitalizeMaui, we strongly believe that diagnostic testing can show how to optimize your health, and identify the root cause of any symptoms that you are experiencing. It can also help anyone, including athletes, achieve optimal physical performance. During your initial diagnostic testing consultation, we will assess if you need further testing, and which tests you need to address your specific symptoms and reach your health goals.

This enables us to recognize any deficiencies or imbalances within your system by observing markers of disease and function throughout your entire body. Once those are identified, medical director Emeka B. Okwuje M.D. will develop a custom treatment plan that will not only enable you to achieve your health and wellness goals, but also allow you to feel your very best at any age.

We offer a wide range of diagnostic testing in addition to serum blood panels so that we are able to examine all of the aspects of your health that are contributing to the symptoms that you are already experiencing, as well as help prevent those which you are in danger of experiencing in the future if steps are not taken now.

Saliva testing, dried blood spot testing and dried urine testing allow us to measure hormones, thyroid function, neurotransmitters, heavy metals and elements, as well as factors that are influencing specific aspects of your life such as fertility, sleep, skin vitality and more.

Diagnostic Testing We Offer at RevitalizeMaui

Diagnostic Testing - Saliva Profile TestingSaliva Profile Testing

The only way to know for sure if your hormones are unbalanced is to have diagnostic testing performed. However, typical blood serum tests are not always effective in allowing you to see the full picture when it comes to your hormone levels.

Somewhere between 95% and 99% of any hormone that is in your bloodstream is bound to carrier proteins, making it unavailable to the target tissues. The percentage of the hormone that is unbound is the only amount that freely diffuses into your tissues, which include the salivary gland. Because of this, saliva testing allows you to assess and measure your bioavailable hormone levels, which are the levels of your hormones that are available to the target tissues.

Men and Women can get Saliva Profile Testing for:

  • Estradiol (E2)
  • Progesterone (Pg)
  • Testosterone (T)
  • Cortisol (C)
  • DHEA-S (DS)

Diagnostic Testing - Blood Spot Profile TestingBlood Spot Profile Testing

Blood spot testing is ideal for measuring sex hormones and thyroid hormones, as well as elements like lead and magnesium. Research also shows that this type of testing is more accurate than regular blood serum testing for measuring blood hormone levels in patients who are supplementing topically.

Our most common dried blood spot profile tests for hormones can include:

  • Estradiol (E2)
  • Progesterone (Pg)
  • Testosterone (T)
  • Cortisol (C)
  • DHEA-S (DS)
  • Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG)
  • Prostate-specific antige (PSA)
  • Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)
  • Free Triiodothyronine (fT3)
  • Free Thyroxine (fT4)
  • Thyroid Antibodies (TPOab)

Diagnostic Testing - Thyroid Profile TestingThyroid Profile Testing

A wide range of factors including hormone imbalance, mineral deficiencies, environmental pollutants and more can interfere with thyroid production and lead to health problems. An under-active thyroid can cause a long list of symptoms including weight gain, low energy, dry skin, hair loss and menstrual problems. An overactive thyroid can also cause symptoms that include weight loss, irregular heartbeat, sweating, irritability and nervousness.

Depending on your needs, we have multiple diagnostic testing services we provide to asses your thyroid function that include blood spot and dried urine, and range from the most essential profile to comprehensive profiles. Thyroid testing is also included in many of the other panels we offer such as hormone profiles, combination profiles and specialty profiles.

Diagnostic Testing - Combination Profile TestingCombination Profile Testing

Comprehensive profile testing for both men and women combines saliva testing with blood spot testing to give you a full picture of your hormones and your thyroid function at the same time.

Along with sex hormones and thyroid testing, we also have the option to include Diurnal Cortisol in your combination profile testing to check your adrenal function.

Diagnostic Testing - Elements Profile TestingElements Profile Testing

Heavy metals surround us in our daily lives. They are in the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink and the materials we touch. This constant exposure to toxic elements can increase your risk for dementia, infertility, diabetes, cancer and more. These elements can also damage our organs, as well as our cardiovascular, nervous and endocrine systems.

We also have an abundance of essential elements that are crucial for the enzymes that synthesize neurotransmitters and activate hormones to function properly. However, these elements are only good when they are within an optimal range, and having too much or too little of them can create consequences for your overall health.

Because toxic and nutritional elements affect different systems of the body, it makes sense that they cannot all be measured within the same body fluid. This is why we offer two options for Elements Profile Testing: Blood spot or dried urine.

The Blood Spot Elements Profile Includes Testing for:

  • Cadmium (Cd)
  • Mercury (Hg)
  • Lead (Pb)
  • Selenium (Se)
  • Zinc (Zn)
  • Magnesium (Mg)
  • Copper (Cu)

The Dried Urine Elements Profile Includes Testing For:

  • Iodine (I)
  • Bromine (Br)
  • Selenium (Se)
  • Arsenic (As)
  • Mercury (Hg)
  • Cadmium (Cd)
  • Ctrn

If needed, there is also a Comprehensive Elements Profile Test, which includes both the Blood Spot and Dried Urine Tests together.

Diagnostic Testing - Neurotransmitter Profile TestingNeurotransmitter Profile Testing

Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that the nervous system uses to relay information from one nerve to another. In order to maintain proper health, we require optimal neurotransmitter balance. When there is an imbalance, it can cause our body to be under or over-stimulated, which leads to neurological and/or psychological symptoms such as anxiety and depression, insomnia, PMS and PMDD, impulsivity and chronic fatigue. The Neurotransmitter Profile Tests we provide use dried urine for the sample and can include diagnostic testing for:

  • Gamma-aminobutyric Acid (GABA)
  • Glutamate (Glu)
  • Dopamine (DA)
  • Glycine (Gly)
  • Epinephrine (Epi)
  • Norepinephrine (NE)
  • Histamine (HIST)
  • Serotonin (5-HT)
  • Phenylethylamine (PEA)
  • Creatine (Crtn)
  • 3,4-Dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC)
  • Homovanillic acid (HVA)
  • 5-Hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA)
  • Neuromedin N(NMN)
  • Vanillylmandelic Acid (VMA)

You can also add on testing for Diurnal Cortisol, Diurnal Melatonin and Diurnal Norepinephrine and Epinephrine to any of these.

Diagnostic Testing - Specialty Profile TestingSpecialty Profile Testing

Specialty Profile Testing combines saliva and blood spot diagnostic testing, or uses dried urine diagnostic testing to give you a more complex overview of specific aspects of your overall health. At RevitalizeMaui, you can get any of the following Specialty Profiles Tests done:
