The PDO Thread Lift is a treatment to tightens skin tissue, using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO). Once introduced, the threads produce three effects in the skin:
The threads will disintegrate and be absorbed into the body after about six months. Still, the effects will continue to last for another 3-6 months due to cellular rejuvenation and fat tissue contraction.
PDO thread lifting gives you natural-looking results without the invasive nature of a facelift. The procedure can be used all over the body, including the face, cheeks, brow, neck, or areas like knees and belly.
When combined with an injectable treatment such as Botox or Dermal Fillers, you can have a total skin transformation that will take years off of the appearance of your skin.
A PDO Thread Lift is performed with biodegradable Polydioxanone threads and a hypodermic needle. During a PDO Thread Lift, polydioxanone threads are delicately placed beneath the dermis to secure and lift sagging skin, promote collagen production, and achieve a tighter “v-shape” to your facial structure.
A PDO Thread Lift is a minimally invasive procedure that can be completed in our office. After numbing by local anesthesia, the PDO threads are inserted by a needle into different layers of the skin. Once inserted, the threads anchor the skin and lift it upwards. The excess threads are then cut off.
Depending on the areas treated, the procedure takes 15-30 minutes and causes a minimum amount of discomfort for our patients.
You are a great candidate for a PDO Thread Lift if you have sagging or drooping skin on your face, including your neck, chin, around your mouth, in the cheeks, on your brow, or around your eyes. PDO Thread Lifts is an excellent option for anyone who wants to achieve a more youthful appearance through tighter skin and wrinkle reduction.
Patients who have drooping or excess tissue may be candidates for a soft tissue lift, where the more delicate tissue of the chin and lower face is lifted with targeted PDO Threads. Ideal candidates will still have some degree of skin elasticity. It is essential to have realistic expectations for the outcome of a non-surgical cosmetic procedure.
If you are not interested in or ready for a facelift, a PDO Thread Lift is a convenient and effective way to rejuvenate your skin and reverse the signs of aging in your face and neck.

We offer three types of threads that can be used during a PDO thread lift. The type of thread used depends on the unique needs of each patient. The three types are:
Mono threads are known as smooth threads. They promote collagen production and add youthful-looking volume to the area around the thread. Smooth threads are minimally invasive and can be placed in patterns that tighten the skin into the desired position. Smooth threads are ideal for tightening the skin on your neck, forehead, or lower face.
Twisted or corkscrew threads add valuable support and volume to the structures of the skin. They are ideal for any areas of your face that need to have volume and youthful tightness of skin restored. Twisted threads are suitable for lifting the skin of the lower face to achieve a tighter, more youthful appearance around the jaw and mouth.
Barbed threads help with lift and collagen production by firming and repositioning the skin into a tighter and more lifted position. Barbed PDO threads are often used in conjunction with smooth threads for optimal results.
We offer this variety of PDO Threads to achieve the desired outcome for each patient. If you have questions about what type of thread will work best for you, we go over all of this information as part of your informative consultation.
A PDO thread lift is convenient and minimally invasive. There may be some slight post-procedure bruising and swelling, which can be treated with ice and acetaminophen. Some patients report a feeling of mild tightness that lasts for approximately two weeks post-procedure. Many patients choose to return to normal activities the day after their procedure.
For the quickest and most comfortable recovery, try to keep exaggerated or prolonged facial movements to a minimum. Also, avoid exercise or any activity that can put a strain on your body for three days following your lift. Sleeping on your back avoids pressure on the face that might cause misalignment of threads.
You will see visible improvement in the lift and contour of your skin as the swelling subsides. There is a noticeable effect within the first week. As your body produces more collagen in response to the threads, you will notice more volume and lift in the areas affected by the threads. As time goes on, your results will continue to improve as the skin and supporting structures adjust to their new positions.
Your body will dissolve your PDO threads within four to six months and left your skin tightened, lifted, and volumized. Results can last up to three years, and results can be extended with subsequent treatments.
